candidates
what makes a great masabi candidate?
Masabi apps are generally expected to be cutting edge, great looking and incredibly easy to use – and most importantly, they are always aimed at solving real world problems for real people in a way that can’t help but make money for us because they’re just so useful for our end users. We’d like you to believe in that philosophy.
Specifically, we look for someone who is:
flexible
Masabi is growing, but we’re still a small startup, and in a small company all sorts of opportunities arise. We try not to rigidly define the scope of anyone’s role, but we don’t force anything on you either. For example, at the moment:
- Our lead tester is analysing the business relationships between train operators in the UK;
- Our lead server developer just designed a research project to appear in an application for European grant funding, including cost analysis and timeline.
a clear communicator
The ability to work well alongside the rest of the team
- As any English teacher will tell you, if you can’t clearly articulate a problem and your approach to finding a solution, you probably don’t really understand it!
- We encourage staff to give talks on their areas of expertise and learn from others in the same way – this improves knowledge sharing across the company.
proactive
We like candidates who are interested enough to have some understanding of what we do, and why they might want to work with us
- Mobile train ticketing is a very tangible field that can impact anyone in the UK – everyone’s opinion is valued, and anyone is qualified to ask why we do things in a particular way;
- We think we’ve answered every single implementation problem with mTicketing – feel free to prove us wrong! Constructive criticism is what drives our innovation process.
passionate
Enjoy what you do – we always like people to go the extra mile and have pride in what they produce. Our business model gears us very strongly to care about every detail of the customer experience.
