javaEE engineer

We are looking for a server developer to work with our existing server team to integrate a variety of travel web services and other features into our JavaEE / Spring / Hibernate based server platform, which supports our mobile applications.

the role

The role involves working with our existing server developers and alongside the QA and client teams:

  • Essential skills: experience in creating (not just maintaining) webapps with Spring, Hibernate and web services;
  • Technologies you will be working with: Tomcat behind Apache, Weblogic, MySQL, Spring 2.5, Hibernate (via Spring extensions), JMX, Windows and Linux, proprietary SOAP APIs including .Net extensions, REST.

experience

Required experience:

  • JavaEE on Tomcat;
  • Spring platform – ideally including Spring ORM, remoting and MVC;
  • Hibernate and MySQL;
  • Web user interface technologies, from JSP through to JQuery;
  • SOAP and RESTful Web Services;
  • Linux.

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but not essential:

  • Build management through Maven, ANT, Artifactory and Hudson;
  • SVN or equivalent version control;
  • Test Driven Development;
  • Selenium or similar web UI test frameworks;
  • Understanding of security (eg. PCI-DSS);
  • Understanding of encryption (eg. RSA, AES, and when to use one over the other).

Development takes place within an agile team, with plenty of scope to contribute beyond just server development.
