how mTickets work

Click on the different tabs below to find out what to do next after purchasing an mTicket or Pickup Ticket on the app.

scanning check

Barcode mTickets are accepted on routes with scanning equipment and let you use your phone as a ticket.

You will be taken straight to the Ticket Wallet after making a purchase. The Ticket Wallet can be accessed whenever you need to display your mTicket.

Go to ‘My Tickets’ and click on the mTicket you want to use.

This is your mTicket. Click on ‘View Barcode’ to display the barcode.

Your barcode will look like this.

If the ticket gate has a scanner, walk up to it and hold the barcode still and near to the scanner, or show it to a member of staff to be scanned.

Once you hear the beep, your ticket has been scanned and you can carry on with your journey!

mTickets are also accepted on routes without scanners and can be checked visually by staff. You must activate your mTicket to show you are using it.

To do this, open the app, click on ‘My Tickets’ and click on the ticket for the journey you are on.

Before you begin your journey, click on ‘Activate mTicket’ to mark this ticket as being used.

Your mTicket will now have flashing colours and will look like this.

If a member of staff comes to check your ticket, or you need to go through a ticket gate, access your mTicket and show it to the nearest staff member.

They will check your ticket and let you through the gate.

You can then carry on with your journey.

collect at station

When you buy a Pickup Ticket on the app you can collect it from a ticket machine at the station.

You will need to bring with you your phone and the payment card used to buy the ticket. Go up to the ticket machine to get started.

Open the app and click on ‘My Tickets’ to take you to the app’s ticket wallet.

Click on the Pickup Ticket you want to collect to show your Pickup code.

Click ‘Collect’ on the ticket machine.

Insert your card into the machine and enter your Pickup code when asked. Your card will not be charged.

Click on “Print Tickets” to collect your tickets from the machine.
