Most Effective Mobile Ticketing Solution Award Won by Chiltern Railways, Masabi and Atos

London – 9th November 2011 – The Chiltern Railways mTicketing solution developed by Masabi, the developer of mobile phone ticketing technology, and systems integrator Atos, was named winner of the Effective Mobile Marketing Award for ‘Most Effective Mobile Ticketing Solution’. The free application allows travellers to securely purchase and display rail tickets on both smartphones and most mass-market handsets. The tickets are then displayed in the app as a barcode or human readable ticket which can be scanned or checked visually. With the application, consumers can buy their tickets anywhere at any time; completely bypassing queues at ticket offices.

“With Masabi and Atos’ help we have been able to move Chiltern Railways to the forefront of transport ticketing,” said Thomas Ableman, Marketing Director of Chiltern Railways. “We are committed to innovating and improving our service for our customers and with our application we have delivered a one-stop solution that truly is a 21st Century travel experience.”

“We are absolutely delighted to have been named a winner at this year’s Effective Mobile Marketing Awards,” said Giacomo Biggiero, CPO of Masabi. “Working with Atos and Chiltern Railways we have created a mobile ticketing solution that genuinely improves the lives of consumers by removing the pain point of queuing. We look forward to continuing our work together to make travelling by train an effortless and enjoyable experience.”

“We are extremely pleased to have been able to roll out an mTicketing application that not only supports ticket purchase, but also delivery and display and can be validated accurately on train using AVANTIX Mobile,” said Graham Bodman Head of Transport Products at Atos. “This latest innovation from Chiltern delivers the most advanced and convenient way to buy tickets for and travel by rail.”
