{"id":11046,"date":"2022-12-19T16:48:36","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T16:48:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10009\/?post_type=post&#038;p=11046"},"modified":"2026-08-07T07:26:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T06:26:02","slug":"2-fare-cap-now-available-to-operators-on-mobile-apps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.masabi.com\/es\/news\/2-fare-cap-now-available-to-operators-on-mobile-apps\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a32 fare cap now available to operators on mobile apps"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-\">\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"345\">As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/money\/2022\/dec\/19\/2-cap-for-many-bus-fares-in-england-expected-to-save-2m-car-journeys\">Department for Transport&#8217;s \u00a32 capped fare<\/a> becomes mainstream news again ahead of its January 2023 launch, Passenger is pleased to announce support for operators that wish to sell the capped tickets on their mobile ticketing apps.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"605\">Delivered via the <a href=\"https:\/\/helpforhouseholds.campaign.gov.uk\/\">UK Government&#8217;s Help for Households campaign<\/a> and the Bus Fare Cap Grant (BFCG), the scheme is designed to introduce a <a class=\"css-tgpl01\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-62775639\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-62775639\" data-renderer-mark=\"true\"><u data-renderer-mark=\"true\">\u00a32 fare cap on single bus tickets<\/u><\/a> for most services in England, outside of London, for the first three months of 2023.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"809\">Guidance issued last month gave operators, and suppliers like Passenger, a chance to better understand the scheme, <a href=\"\/news\/mobile-tickets-and-the-dft-backed-2-fare-cap\/\">the challenges it might create<\/a> and an opportunity to respond with any software changes needed to enable operators to opt into the scheme without revenue risk.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1084\">Mobile tickets that are purchased on the Passenger platform have a set period where they need to be used, typically this is 12 months so that customers have a reasonable amount of time to use the tickets they have purchased. However, this creates a potential scenario where customers can \u2018stockpile\u2019 capped single mobile tickets during the scheme to use them long after the scheme has ended. In this scenario, there is an increased risk that an operator\u2019s funding allocation won\u2019t cover the revenue loss from the capped ticket sales.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1619\">The Product and Engineering teams at Passenger have worked quickly to provide a solution on both our <a class=\"css-tgpl01\" title=\"http:\/\/localhost:10009\/products\/premium\/\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost:10009\/products\/premium\/\" data-renderer-mark=\"true\"><u data-renderer-mark=\"true\">Premium<\/u><\/a> and <a class=\"css-tgpl01\" title=\"http:\/\/localhost:10009\/products\/mytrip\/\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost:10009\/products\/mytrip\/\" data-renderer-mark=\"true\"><u data-renderer-mark=\"true\">myTrip<\/u><\/a> platforms.<\/p>\n<p data-renderer-start-pos=\"1751\">When creating the new \u00a32 capped tickets operators will be able to choose to set a specific activation expiry date, after which any tickets that have been sold but not activated will expire.
