When surveyed, over half of the people using the app said it had encouraged them to use the bus more, so boosting local economies and improving air quality by cutting congestion.<\/p>\n<p>Since single tickets were made available on mobiles, in January this year, National Express West Midlands has <strong>sold nearly 100,000<\/strong> of them.<\/p>\n<div>Tom Stables, Managing Director of National Express West Midlands, said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe\u2019re always looking for new ways to use innovation and technology to make it easier, quicker and cheaper for our customers to travel. Customers can get all kinds of tickets on our phone app. So they can buy the best value option for them, then just show their phone to the driver as they get on the bus.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s really easy to use &#8211; no need to worry about finding the right change or getting paper tickets. And it\u2019s the cheapest way to buy our most popular products &#8211; using your mobile is always cheaper than using cash.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since launching the app, National Express West Midlands has been asking customers what they think of mobile ticketing.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here are the results:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>55% said they were using the bus more since downloading the app<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They scored it over 80% for satisfaction<\/li>\n<li>The main reasons sited for using the app where 1) easier and 2) cheaper<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Among other things, they said:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI absolutely love how simple it is to use.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI love the app and it\u2019s very convenient with the direct debit payment.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>Tom Stables added:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe\u2019re very grateful to our customers for their feedback. I was particularly pleased to see one quote, from a deaf user, telling us it made it much easier for them to buy a bus ticket. We\u2019re now working on some of the customers\u2019 suggestions for the next version of this mobile ticketing app.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You can read the National Express Press Release <a href=\"http:\/\/nxbus.co.uk\/west-midlands\/news\/national-express-west-midlands-sells-a-million-tickets-to-mobile-phones\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the year National Express West Midlands and Masabi were also recognised with a prestigious Transport Ticketing Global 2018 Award.\u00a0<span>The award for \u2018Most innovative customer serving operator\u2019 was decided by a panel of distinguished<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport-ticketing.com\/awards-categories\/judges\">transport and payments experts<\/a><span><span>\u00a0<\/span>in a hotly contested category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masabi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/hubspot-349d9fcb5b6f21bfa83f.png\" alt=\"NationalExpressAPI.png\" width=\"806\" height=\"496\"><\/p>\n<p>National Express partnered with Masabi to connect their existing web portal to their new mobile ticketing app (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.masabi.com\/justride-mobile-ticketing\/\">powered by Justride<\/a>) for entitlement fulfilment via an API interface (External Orders API). This allows students to order their student passes online and get them sent directly to their mobile ticketing app for activation and use.
