{"id":1693,"date":"2017-06-27T14:23:35","date_gmt":"2017-06-27T13:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.discoverpassenger.com\/?p=1693"},"modified":"2021-12-30T18:54:52","modified_gmt":"2021-12-30T18:54:52","slug":"passenger-helps-to-shape-transport-for-the-norths-data-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.masabi.com\/es\/news\/passenger-helps-to-shape-transport-for-the-norths-data-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"Passenger helps to shape Transport for the North\u2019s Data Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"block-\">Deep in the heart of the \u201cNorthern Powerhouse\u201d, on 20th June we attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/odileeds.org\/events\/travelhack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#TravelHack Innovation Day<\/a> at the Open Data Institute Leeds node.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">At <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ODILeeds\">@ODILeeds<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TravelHack?src=hash\">#TravelHack<\/a> today for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Transport4North\">@Transport4North<\/a> data strategy Innovation Day <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6unehBPo6t\">pic.twitter.com\/6unehBPo6t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Passenger (@passengerteam) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/passengerteam\/status\/877089339796226048\">June 20, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The goal of the day was to set the foundations of TfN\u2019s Integrated and Smart Travel programme with the creation of an open data strategy for the North, which will form the basis of new solutions designed to make travelling across the North easier.<\/p>\n<p>TfN\u2019s core goal is to help people get around the North &#8211; from the Yorkshire Dales to the dense city centres of Lancashire and Yorkshire &#8211; across multiple modes of travel. And it\u2019s not just people that need to travel &#8211; the North is one of the highest traffic areas for freight, moving in from the major ports of Liverpool and Hull.<\/p>\n<p>TfN recognises that there is a huge benefit to engaging in open data and identifying the users that will leverage that data to craft innovative digital products. The Innovation Day was the first of a programme of engagement events to do just that.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is a packed room! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/travelhack?src=hash\">#travelhack<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ujOzOdZhCk\">pic.twitter.com\/ujOzOdZhCk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ODI Leeds (@ODILeeds) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ODILeeds\/status\/877085980750229504\">June 20, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Some of the subjects that were covered included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disruptions &#8211; How can data help avoid disruptions to transport networks?<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fares &#8211; How can passengers easily see the cost of travel and compare options?<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collecting customer input and feedback<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crowdsourced datasets<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mixing travel modes<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New sources of open data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Passenger was excited to be involved with the initial stages of the data strategy development, and we hope our background in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverpassenger.com\/2017\/04\/19\/blackpool-transport-launch-multi-modal-passenger-apps-and-website\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multi-modal journey planning<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverpassenger.com\/2016\/10\/31\/experimentation-is-vital-improving-apps-with-data-driven-decisions\/\">data-driven decision making<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverpassenger.com\/2016\/07\/29\/customer-feedback-blown-away\/\">customer experience<\/a> were valuable additions to the day.
