Cash top-ups at the local shop

Riders without a bank account or a smartphone can top up their travel with cash at their local shop. Payzone's counter network puts that within walking distance for most of the UK, with no agency infrastructure to build or maintain.

How the integration works

  1. Rider visits a Payzone shop.

Any newsagent, convenience store or Post Office branch in the network will do.

  2. They show their card or barcode.

The cashier scans it at the counter.

  3. They pay in cash.

The retailer uses the same terminal they already use every day.

  4. Value lands on their Justride account.

The same fare rules and capping apply as with any other payment method.

Key benefits for agencies

  • 24,000 locations, no capital cost.

National coverage without an agency buying or sitting a single machine.

  • Somewhere riders already go.

Payzone counters are in shops people use weekly, not in transport interchanges they'd have to travel to.

  • Cash riders get capping too.

Because the value lands in an account, cash-paying riders reach the same fare caps as card and app users.

  • A familiar transaction.

Paying at a Payzone counter is something people already do for utilities and mobile top-ups, so there's no new behaviour to learn.
