The challenge

RTC wanted to offer contactless payment across its network without a lengthy custom procurement. The agency needed a proven platform that could accept bank cards and digital wallets at the validator — and deliver the back-office settlement required for a high-volume urban network.

Solutions deployed

The solution

Masabi deployed Justride’s open payments module, enabling RTC riders to tap any contactless card or digital wallet at any validator. RTC became the first North American agency to go live with SaaS open payments — establishing a template for agencies across the region.

Creating a seamless experience for our residents and visitors to move easily and conveniently among multiple modes of transportation is the future of public transit, and we’re proud to be one of the first agencies to embrace it. Masabi has been pivotal to enabling us to take practical steps towards delivering a city-wide MaaS experience that works for both residents and visitors. Integrating our rideRTC systems into the popular Uber and Transit apps has transformed the rider experience and made our services more accessible to more riders.
